Volunteers for VBS
We need volunteers to help with Vacation Bible School this summer.  This Saturday, May 26th any student in grade 5 or older can help with decorations from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM in the lower level.  Lunch is included.

We also need many volunteers to help during VBS week which is Monday, August 6-Thursday, August 9 from 5:30-7:30 PM.  Volunteers are needed to help with crafts, activities, games and snacks.  We also need help in the kitchen to prepare and serve dinner each evening. Any student entering grade 6 or older as well as adults are invited to participate.  If you would like to volunteer, click here to download a form or one can be picked up at all church entrances.  Please fill out and return your form to the Faith Formation Office or drop in the collection basket by Sunday, July 8th.  If you would like to know more about VBS, click here.

Faith Formation Kick-off
Archdiocesan Youth Day 2012
Theme: "Reason for Hope"
Grades 7-10 will kick off the new Faith Formation year by attending Archdiocesan Youth Day 2012 at DeLaSalle Catholic High School in Minneapolis on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 1:00-9:00 PM.
Events Include:
  • Great Speakers - Fr. Michael Schmitz, Dave Rinaldi, Anne Fochtman, Pat Millea and Chris Kosteic
  • The Music of Sonar
  • Mass
  • Dinner
  • Testimonials
  • Adoration and Benediction
  • Full day with Archbishop Nienstedt

 
Catechists/Teachers Needed
Please consider being a volunteer for our Faith Formation Programs for this coming year.  We are in need of Faith Formation catechists/teachers, substitute teachers, helpers/aides, Vacation Bible School volunteer helpers, Retreat helpers, table leaders and other things to help with our children and youth programs. 

Don't be afraid to teach or help out.  We have all the rescources to help you. 

Singles, parents and grandparents are all welcome.  If you prefer to team teach with a spouse or friend, you are most welcome to do that. 

Children of catechists have their registration fee waived.

Please see where you can help out and make the decision to join the team. These programs cannot succeed without the help of everyone.

The following requirements are needed for all volunteers that work with children or vulnerable adults. 
  1. Background check
  2. Attendance at a VIRTUS training session (see below)
  3. Code of Conduct form signed

 
VIRTUS Training Session Available
There will be a VIRTUS training session (Protecting God's Children) on Wednesday, August 1st from 6:00-9:00 PM at St. Pius V in the lower level.  Please be on time as the doors will close at 6:00 PM.  Anyone 18 years of age or older who has contact with children or vulnerable adults through volunteering at a parish are required to attend a VIRTUS training session.  We recommend taking the training as it is only requred once and then you can volunteer as needed.  Students that have been Confirmed may also attend.  People from other parishes are welcome.

How to register for a VIRTUS training session:
  1. Go on-line to www.virtus.org
  2. Click on "registration" in the left-hand column
  3. Select the Archdiocese (St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN from the drop down menu)
  4. Create a user ID and password
  5. Provide the requested information
  6. Follow the screen prompts to continue the on-line registration
  7. Select the session you wish to attend
  8. You will get a confirmation message when registration is complete

Twin Cities TEC
TEC stands for Teens Encounter Christ. TEC is a Catholic ministry serving the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Throughout the year they have 3 day retreats specifically designed to help youth and young adults grow in their faith and relationship with Christ. The retreats are open to anyone 16 years of age (or a junior in high school) or older. Although the retreats are Catholic, all Christians are welcome.
