Teaching Process:

On-going, daily classroom assessment techniques such as probing questions, written student explanations, and student-teacher and student-student dialogue contribute to a deeper understanding of physics concepts. Having students collect and analyze data through explorations with manipulatives, illustrate graphically (both by hand and with graphing technology), and explain their thinking orally and in writing are excellent tools to prepare students to be able to perform well on standardized examinations. Students will take the Regents Exam. It includes multiple-choice questions as well as student-constructed responses. Therefore, I will employ a variety of teaching strategies. These strategies include:

■        Direct instruction

■        Cooperative learning strategies

■        Discovery & inquiry based labs

■         Interactive Physics computer software

■        Web based java simulations

■        Group discussions

■        Problem-solving
