Homework Policy
Geometry Honors and Physics are college-preparatory classes. The course content is extensive, and we must all work very hard during the year to complete the syllabus in time for the NYS Exam that will be administered. In general, students who are successful in these course read the text daily, concentrate on the material in class, study for each test and complete homework on a daily basis. A daily review of the material covered the previous day and completing required practice problems are the daily homework assignments. Additional problem-solving practice and "extra-credit" is available each week; students should visit the class website for the problems-of the-week. The solutions to the POW's should be submitted on Fridays of the corresponding weeks. Students who are successful in the class and on the Regents exam routinely complete their homework, use the homework help and on-line assessments that supplement the text here, and use the Gizmo's available from www.ExploreLearning.com and ask questions when they do not understand the material.
Extra Assistance Policy:
Students are encouraged to maintain contact with the instructor to allow optimal understanding of the course content. Students may receive additional help in several ways. I am available before 1st period, during selected lunch periods and after school on Mondays for any additional assistance needed. Students may e-mail me with homework questions (kenneth.ramme@rcsdk12.org). It is the responsibility of the student to initiate the request for extra help.
Homework Grades:
Homework assignments will be graded for completion and accuracy on a five-point scale:
0---Not done at all
1---Homework is incomplete, less than half done at the beginning of class.
2---Homework is somewhat incomplete or proper corrections were not done when we reviewed the material in class. The work is very disorganized and messy.
3--Homework was generally complete at the beginning of class and the proper procedures were followed and corrections were made but there were a considerable number of mistakes. The student paid close attention in class.
4---Homework was neat, organized and proper procedures were followed but there were still some mistakes. The student paid close attention in class.
5---Homework was almost perfect. All procedures were followed. There were very few mistakes. The student was an active participant in class.
