Classes
Students typically enrolled in Geometry Honors and Physics
are motivated students. These students are planning to enroll in a two-
or four-year college or university upon graduation. Each class has an
approximate enrollment of less than 20 students. Jefferson
uses a traditional nine-period day, meaning that the class meets daily
for 43 minutes. These are very challenging courses that demand a lot of
dedication and discipline. It is rigorous as well as fast paced.
The courses are college-preparatory classes. The course
content is extensive, and we must all work very hard during the year to
complete the syllabus in time for the NYS Exam that will be
administered. In general, students who are successful in geometry and
physics read the text daily, concentrate on the material in class,
study for each test and complete homework on a daily basis. A daily
review of the material covered the previous day and completing required
practice problems are the daily homework assignments. Additional
problem-solving practice and "extra-credit" is available each week;
students should visit the class website for the problems-of the-week.
Students who are successful in the class and on the Regents exam
routinely complete their homework, use the homework help and on-line
assessments that supplement the text here, and use the Gizmo's available from www.ExploreLearning.com and ask questions when they do not understand the material.
