June 17, 2002 - Talk-Bot is named the winner of Agentland's Chatterbox Challenge for the second year in a row. The contest featured 58 Bots from all over the world. Chat-Bot finished a very respectable 4th place. The final Top 12 Bots are: 1) Talk-Bot by Wendell Cowart 2) Elbot by Fred Roberts 3) Alice by Dr Richard Wallace 4) Chat-Bot by Wendell Cowart 5) Eugene by Vladimir Veselov 6) Mark-Bot by Mark Connell 7) Hex by Jason L. Hutchens 8) Jabberwock by Pixy 9) Jabberwacky by Rollo Carpenter 10) Oraknabo by Jon Booth 11) Dogh'd by Benji Adams 12) Hal by Zabaware, Inc.
June 4, 2002 - Both Chat-Bot and Talk-Bot have made the finals in Agentland's Chatterbox Challenge. :-) 12 bots now move on into the playoffs.
May 15, 2002 - I continue to work on both Chat-Bot and Talk-Bot as both are entered in the Chatterbox Challenge. Chat-Bot for example has grown from 359k from last year to 636K.
April 1, 2002 - The 10 question part of the contest is over. Out of 58 bots participating Chat-Bot finished 2nd and Talk-Bot 12th. I was a little disappointed in Talk-Bot's 12th place finish but it was mainly due to minor errors on my part. The correct answers were there but the errors caused the program to skip over them. Oh well, he is still in good position to make the finals.
December 15, 2001 - I have entered both Talk-Bot and Chat-Bot in "Agentland's ChatterBox Challenge". Voting will begin on April 1, 2002 so please visit the site and vote for them.
November 16, 2001 - Agentland has agreed to sponsor next years "ChatterBox Challenge". Of course Talk-Bot and Chat-Bot will be entering. The contest address site is www.chatterboxchallenge.com The deadline to enter is March 15, 2002. The actual contest starts on 4/01/02 and over $2,000 in money and prizes will be awarded to the winners.
November 3, 2001 - I've decided to give Chat-Bot a new look. I think an image of a Robot is more of what I think he should look like. I've added a small javascript for his eyes. I also added a sun and a moon to the site. I have several different ones of each that appear based on the computers clock. During the day hours the sun is present and as night approaches the moon pictures begin to appear. And finally against extreme pressure not to by the Government I have released the TRUE story about Chat-Bot.
October 24, 2001 - Chat-Bot under goes a major update of his data base going from 274k to 359k. Unfortunately, because a person can take a conversation in so many different directions you may have to poke around a bit to notice any change. But trust me he is getting smarter. :-)
