Parks: The residents of Belle Plaine enjoy more than 45 acres of well-kept, beautiful parkland. The city parks provide ideal settings for casual get-togethers, summer swimming or tennis , and winter ice skating. Developed parks have playground equipment, two include shelters and kitchen facilities, while nature preserve parks provide an opportunity to hike and enjoy nature. Park rental is available for family reunions, company picnics, weddings and other occasions.

 

A number of sporting facilities are readily available including lighted football, baseball, and softball fields. A recently constructed grandstand enhances the first-class baseball field. Six regulation infield softball fields are enjoyed by all players.

Belle Plaine has a multipurpose recreational area which spans an entire city block. It includes a swimming pool staffed by lifeguards, wading pool, tennis courts, broomball rink, and ice skating facilities. Lessons are provided by Community Recreation for most activities. Many programs accommodate participants of all ages and varying athletic skill levels.

Golf Course: Avid golfers area wide have found a home at the newly constructed Valley View Golf Club (particularly at the 16th hole). The course has 18 holes available and open to the public. Valley View Golf Club features a driving range and a club house with a panoramic view of the Minnesota River Valley.

Summer Activities: Summer activities include tennis, T-ball, Little League, men's and women's softball, and horseshoe throwing. Belle Plaine hosted the 1992 State Amateur Baseball Tournament and enthusiastically supports its amateur baseball team.

Belle Plaine has a full size swimming pool and adjacent wading pool for open swimming. The pool was remodeled in the spring of 1995 with a new concrete deck and piping sponsored and financed by the Belle Plaine Lions Club. Lessons are provided and pool rental is available for special occasions.

Winter Activities: Winter activities include broomball, ice skating, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, basketball, wrestling, and volleyball. the Borough Bowl provides eight lanes of bowling year-round for both league and open bowling.

Minnesota Valley Trail System: The Minnesota Valley Trail System provides year-round recreational activities for nature enthusiasts of all types.

Several miles of extensive and well-groomed bicycling, hiking, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and horseback riding trails are only minutes from Belle Plaine. Twenty-two miles of trails are maintained for horseback riding and mountain biking alone.

For camping enthusiasts, dozens of scenic camp sites offer a nearby, natural getaway. And if you like year-round fishing, Belle Plaine is the place, nestled near several serene lakes or for the true fishing adventurist, the Minnesota River beckons.
