About Us

Since 1994, Cloud-9 has been in the business of developing and marketing cool hardware and software products for users of the Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer 1, Color Computer 2 and Tandy Color Computer 3. The company is made up of a couple of guys who get a kick pushing the CoCo beyond what it was originally designed to do.

Mark Marlette is the founder/brainchild and hardware guru of Cloud-9, having started the company as a resource for quality CoCo hardware and software. Though he bought his Color Computer in 1983, his first system was an RCA COSMAC ELF, based upon the 1802 microprocessor. Like most of the die hard CoCo users today, he attributes his real-world success to the CoCo.

Mark lives in the country just outside of Delano, Minnesota. You can learn more about Mark by visiting his personal website.

Boisy Pitre contributes his hardware and software skills to Cloud-9, having been an avid Color Computer since his early teens.  After envying a friend's CoCo for several years, he finally bought his own Tandy Color Computer 2 in 1985 (a 26-3136B, with 16K and Extended Color BASIC).  From there he went on to the CoCo 3 and learned OS-9. In 1992, he joined Microware Systems Corporation, the makers of OS-9, as a software engineer, and has worked in the software industry ever since. He is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he obtained his Bachelors of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics.

Boisy resides out in the country, near the city of Opelousas, Louisiana. You can also visit his personal website.

Jim Hathaway has been involved with the Color Computer for almost 25 years. Before owning his first CoCo he also enjoyed hacking some other great Tandy computers like the PC-2, the PC-3 and the MC-10.  He created the orignal design for Glenside IDE interface board, and also designed an MMC/SD card reader interface for the CoCo.  Born and raised in California, Jim moved to Tennessee in 1995, and resides in the country near the city of Jackson, TN.  He currently works for one of the largest consumer product companies in the world.

Jim brings a wealth of hardware and software design experience to Cloud-9.  You can learn more about Jim at his personal website.

Tim Lindner writes software for Cloud-9. He received his first CoCo in August of 1981. Without any resources to buy game cartridges, he spent all his time learning BASIC from the included manual. In 1988 he and his father went to their first CoCoFest and bought a CoCo 3 with a CM-8 monitor. Ever since then, Tim has pursued programming non-commercially, working on a number of open source projects, and is very proud of his HD6309 core contribution to the MAME/MESS emulator project.

Tim lives near San Francisco, California in the small town of Martinez. You can also visit his personal website.

Where Are You Guys?

In our labs, of course! In addition to Cloud-9's headquarters, located in Delano, Minnessota, there is "Lab North," also in Delano, and "Lab South," located in the countryside, just west of Opelousas, Louisiana. Lab East is in Jackson, Tennessee and Lab West resides in Martinez, California. While all labs conduct R&D, Labs North and East focus on hardware design, while Labs South and West concentrate on software development.
