Zip the Labrador

The Labrador retriever originally comes from Newfoundland and was bred to help the fishermen. Now the dog's main purpose is to retrieve waterfowl and flush and retrieve upland birds. They have a medium build, stand about 23 inches at the shoulder and can weigh up to 80 pounds. Labs have a short, thick coat of fur that is either black, yellow, or chocolate in color. The other trademark features of Labradors are the otter-like tail and face with expressive eyes.

Labradors are good with children and elderly or handicapped people. They have a gentle temperment, are easily adaptable to new surroundings and eager to please. Labs are also very intelligent and are often trained as service dogs for the physically impared. While Labradors are not overly aggressive as rule, they will bark to frighten off strangers. One should keep in mind that Labrador puppies are full of energy if the dog is intended as a pet.

Karson's Standards

Karson likes to breed a labrador that is a good companion. The dog should be good with children, well-behaved, and still perform in the field. His ideal labrador will love to hunt and still want to be with you when you're not in the field. So, as a result, he doesn't always breed for looks with his dogs, preferring to concentrate on hunting skill. Karson's dog lines go back 30 years.
