About Me

Placeholder ImageWelcome to my the on-line gallery of the creative works. The site is named as such to do honor to my life partner and companion, Janet. She is also known as maggical among her friends and family. I am very proud to be a part of her life and hers mine.

Interestingly enough, we met late in life and yet, it's as if we have known each other all of our lives. We frequently kid each other about our younger adulthood's and why we never met before.

We live in Rochester NY, travel around a bit to visit family and friends in other parts of the country. We support each other and our careers. She helps me critique, edit and promote my work. I create, and with my computer background, I maintain our web site.

Together, we are maggialExpressionsBanner196x40

Biography

Rich Verry began life as the only son of a war veteran. As he grew, he discovered artistic talents in himself and in his parents. Dad was an excellent technician with the brush but did not seem to have a creative side. Mom was very creative and dabbled in many different mediums but lacked technical expertise. Through osmosis, Rich blended their talents with his own, to good results.

Throughout his childhood, Rich doodled in class, at home and where-ever.He sketched fantastic ships that could travel through space, water, air and underground. As he reached puberty, subject matter changed while skills grew stronger. While he never received any formal training in the arts, he experimented with a variety of media and styles, including sketching, drawing and photography.

As an adult, earning a living took precedence over his talents. He married, went to college the hard way (part-time nights & weekends) and earned several college degrees in information technology. While this fed his creative side, he always felt something lacking. Years later and after a divorce, he rediscovered his artistic side.

To get started again, he took adult evening classes in drawing and painting. His technique improved quickly. Eventually class-time transformed into a workshop surrounded by like-minded individuals. Overtime, he worked on his art while balancing career and a social life. Eventually, he found Janet. Falling in love again, they built a life together. The difference this time, they support and encourage each other with open minds to pursue individual dreams and aspirations. In Rich's case, a balance between art, love life and career.

About this time, he also began writing short stories, one of which is published on this site. Then, in 2012, he began working on an idea for a full fledge book which was published in June 2015 with more planned or in the works.

That, in a nutshell, is Rich. With pleasure, he shares his artwork with you.
