Goat Care Help
All buyers of Terrapin Acres Stock get
ongoing assistance in learning the routine (and not-so-routine) aspects of goat care.
We had similar help from herds such as Landmark Oaks and Marshland Dairy (Linda
Libra) and expect to pass along what we've learned.
All animals are sold with the appropriate
vaccinations and guaranteed healthy at the time they leave the farm. Breeding stock
is guaranteed to be fertile if the proper care has been provided by the buyer. We
follow ADGA sales recommendations.

Health Certificates
Our vet can provide health certificates for
out-of-state sales. Blood testing for specific diseases is available on the buyer's
request at the buyer's expense. Buyers will not be held to purchase of any animal
that does not pass testing. This is the same criteria that is used for our export
animals.

Veterinary Services
Our animals are under regular veterinary care
including Tetanus/Enterotoxemia vaccinations and worming as necessary. Other
injections include BoSe, Vitamins ADE, B-Complex Vitamins and Vitamin C. We use
ultrasound pregnancy testing by Osceola Veterinary Service and University of MN.
CAE & Disease
Prevention and Control
Our CAE/General Disease prevention program
includes heat-treated colostrum and pasteurized cow milk. We believe that control of
communicable conditions is very important. We vaccinate our young stock against CL abscesses.
Our dairy kids leave the Poplar Hill farm as
soon as they are born and are raised in separate pens from older stock. We leave the
Boer kids on the dam unless we are asked before the kid's birth to feed it by hand.
Testing for CAE, CL, Johnes, etc. can be done at
the buyer's expense. Once an animal has left the farm and contacted animals from
other sources, we will not be responsible for CAE, CL, Johnes or similar health status
changes. |
