Start by juggling 3 balls, but in a fast, low pattern. This will get you used to tossing more quickly. Once you have established a good rhythm, throw each ball in a high pattern, one right after the other. For a moment all the balls will be in the air and your hands will be empty. During this time you can pretend to toss the invisible balls 4 and 5 - this is where they will go eventually - or you can take this time to clap your hands or wave to a friend.

Then you can catch the balls as they come down and toss them back into the low pattern to keep the quick rhythm. As you continue to practice, switch between making the first high toss from the right then left hand. Once you can do this repeatedly, try it by starting with a high throw from the first toss. As always, be patient. Only after you've mastered this exercise you are ready to move on.
