Petty Officer Lesson 1: Navigation and Etiquette
Congratulations on starting yer officer training! By the time ye finishes, ye can be confident that ye know what ye be doing when ye command a sloop or cutter. (War brig training be optional, fer experienced full officers.) To pass lesson 1, ye must:
When ye have agreed to follow Official Flag Policies, had yer Etiquette discussion, several chances to practice nav, and met all other requirements listed above, mention it to Lord Kalvan. If he agrees, then yer record will be marked as having passed Lesson 1.
- Have standings above able in all three of bilge, carp, sails.
- Be able to load at least one gun in less than three minutes.
- Read every post in Official Flag Policies. If ye have questions, ask LordKalvan or an SO, or post in Flag Info. If ye can honestly agree to abide by these rules, then sign by replying to We agree to follow Official Flag Policies.
- Read Pirate Etiquette, and be prepared to answer questions about it. Ask Lord Kalvan or a Senior Officer fer an Etiquette discussion when ye be ready.
- Read the Navigation tutorial linked from Links to Everything You Need to Know (on YPP Forums).
- Practice navigation enough that ye either have standings above Able or experience above Novice. If the mission board shows a Navigating or Brigand Hunting mission, then ye can use that to practice yer nav. If ye don't see those missions yet, then ye will have to ask an Otherwhen officer to order ye to navigate fer this. That officer can say no, but we will try to give ye some practice time when we aren't on an important run. Odds are it will be faster to just get yer experience up to Broad at all of sails, carp, bilge, and guns (that's when the navigation missions start showing, if ye are subscribed).
