Minneapolis – (Sept. 28, 2009) Ruth Graham & Friends announce the postponement of their fall Get Growing conference for Wichita, KS. The new dates for the conference, to be held at First Church of the Nazarene, Wichita – are May 21-22, 2010. The conference was set to take place Oct. 30-31 at First Nazarene.

First Nazarene requested the delay to give the church’s new pastoral leadership more time to prepare for the conference. The church recently received word that its new pastor would be available to be installed on Sunday evening, Oct. 25. The following week will be crowded with activities introducing the pastor to the church, according to Interim Pastor Gene Williams and Associate Pastor Brad Riley.

“We are thrilled that the church has been successful in finding a new pastor, and that he is available to assume his duties earlier than anticipated,” says Tex Reardon, executive director of the Ruth Graham & Friends ministry. “We are excited for the church, and more than happy to postpone our conference until the spring of 2010 so as not to be a distraction at this critical time in the church’s development.”

“We very much appreciate the cooperation that Ruth Graham & Friends has shown in agreeing to reschedule their conference,” says Pastor Williams. “We also hope that the community at large will accept our apologies for this delay. We know that many people throughout the Greater Wichita area were looking forward to attending the conference. I’m convinced that this delay will only result in an even more positive environment for the Ruth Graham & Friends conference this coming Spring.”

Ruth Graham & Friends Get Growing conferences provide resources and support for people seeking to better understand life-controlling issues. The conferences are of value to church pastoral and lay ministry leaders and staff, counselors, and individuals looking to help themselves and/or others deal with major life issues such as depression, anger, abuse, pornography, abortion, divorce, addiction, loneliness and more. All conferences are free of charge and open to the public.

Although free, seating is limited and reservations are required for attendance. Reservations for the Wichita conference can be made online at www.ruthgrahamandfriends.org.

The “Get Growing” conferences are held on average only six times per year.

Ruth Graham, author, international speaker and youngest daughter of renowned evangelist Billy Graham, founded the Ruth Graham & Friends ministry in 2005 to help the church provide care for people experiencing life and its constant challenges.
