bullet  General Notes:

Spent most of his married life on Manitoulin Island. He was reported to have drowned in a Saskatchewan lake while fishing, however at that time of year the lakes would be covered by very thick ice. He was also said to have built the first Red Wing School house north of Prince Albewrt, Sask.Canada. This information was obtained from Signe Brown, whose husband was a nephew of John Couch. The possibility was that he may have been cutting ice from a lake when drowned.
