Apostle

"Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our Profession, Christ Jesus; who was faithful to Him (the Father) who appointed Him (Jesus), as also Moses was faithful in all his house. For this Man (Jesus) was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who has built the house has more honor than the house. For every house is built by some man; but He who built all things is God. And Moses truly was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later; But Christ as a Son over His own house; whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end." (Hebrews 3:1-6)

Apostle: from the Greek word apostolos which means: sent-one; a messenger; one sent on a mission; commissioned by another to represent him in some way; an apostle.

Sent: from the Greek word apostello which means: sent-one; a messenger; one sent on a mission; sent-one; a messenger; one sent on a mission; commissioned by another to represent him in some way; an apostle..

Send: from the Greek word pempo which means: to send, especially to send someone to someone else from the sender's dwelling place.

The word 'Apostle' in the New Testament usually refers to the twelve Apostles that Jesus chose and sent out into the world to spread the Goodnews of Christ Jesus, as it says:

"Then said Jesus to them again, 'Peace be unto you, as My Father has sent Me, even so I send you.'" (see John 20:21)

“Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw Him, they worshipped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, 'All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all the things that I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the age. Amen.” (Matthew 28:16-20)

Just as Jesus sent out His Apostles, so also was Christ Jesus Himself sent by God into the world to be an Apostle and a High Priest. Consider these verses:

For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes on Him is not condemned; but he who believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:16-18)

“He who has received His testimony has set to his seal that God is true. For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives not the Spirit by measure unto Him. The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand." (John 3:33-35)

“But I have greater witness than that of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me. And the Father Himself, who did send Me, has borne witness of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. And you have not His word abiding in you; for whom He has sent, Him (Jesus) you do not believe.” (John 5:36-38)

Jesus. as an Apostle sent by the Father, had a mission to accomplish for the Father! Consider the following verses as presented in the Gospel of John:

"Jesus said unto them, My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work." (John 4:34)

"Then Jesus answered and said unto them, 'Truly, truly, I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever things He (the Father) does, these also the Son does likewise. For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and He (the Father) will shew Him (the Son Jesus) greater works than these, that you may marvel. For as the Father raises up the dead, and gives life to them; even so the Son gives life to whom He wills. For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment unto the Son; so that all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father! He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who has sent Him (the Son Jesus). Truly, truly, I say unto you, he who hears My word, and believes on Him who sent Me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death unto life! Truly, truly, I say unto you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they who hear shall live. For as the Father has life in Himself; so has He given to the Son to have life in Himself; and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He (Jesus> is the Son of man. ... I can do nothing of My own self; as I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just; because I seek not My own will, but the will of the Father who has sent Me." (John 5:19-27, 30)

"All who the Father gives to Me (Jesus) shall come to Me; and he who comes to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him (the Father) who sent Me. And this is the Father's will who sent Me, that of all whom He has given Me I should lose none, but should raise them up again at the Last Day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes on Him, may have everlasting life; and I will raise them up at the last day." (John 6:37-40)

"Now in about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the Temple, and taught. And the Jews marvelled, saying, How does this Man know letters, having never studied? Jesus answered them, and said, 'My doctrine is not Mine, but His (the Father's) who sent Me. If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it is of God, or whether I speak from Myself. He that speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks His (the Fathers) glory who sent Him (Jesus the Son), the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him." (John 7:14-18)

"I have many things to say and to judge of you; but He who sent Me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard from Him. But they did not understand that He spoke to them about the Father. Then said Jesus unto them, 'When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you shall know that I Am, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father has taught Me, I speak these things. And He who sent Me is with Me; for the Father has not left Me alone; for I do always those things that please Him.' As He (Jesus) spoke these words, many believed in Him." (John 8:26-30)

"I (Jesus) am the Good Shepherd; and the Good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep. But he who is an hireling, and not the shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees, and the wolf catches, and scatters the sheep. The hireling flees, because he is a hireling, and does not care anout the sheep. I am the Good Shepherd, and I know My sheep, and My own know Me. As the Father knowes Me, even so know I the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And I have other sheep, who are not of this fold; these also I must bring, and they shall hear My voice; and there shall be one fold, and One Shepherd (Jesus). Therefore My Father loves me, because I lay down My life, that I might take it again. No man takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of My Father." (John 10:11-18)

"Father ... I have glorified You on the earth! I have finished the work which You gave Me to do!" (John 17:4)
