|  Welcome to Mrs. Horvath's Kindergarten Fine Nursery Rhyme. We have spent the
past several weeks sharing and learning nursery rhymes and lullabies. By using
this form of language, language that naturally surrounds young children, we have
built formal structures of reading and writing. By reading, writing, listening
and speaking nursery rhymes, students may increase vocabulary, sight word vocabulary,
word recognition, and grammar. Nursery rhymes are also a great introduction to
poetry and its principles. Most of all, nursery rhymes and lullabies make kindergarteners
enthusiastic emergent readers, ready to take language within their experiences
and backgrounds and create worlds of poetry and beyond.
