Atari (and emulation)
Atari
Atari. Just the name alone is legendary. From the early days of Pong until now, this fantastic company has turned out some of the best (and worst) games of all time.

I myself have an incurable addiction to the company and it's games. I'll admit it: I own an Atari 2600 emulator. So what? The system is well over 20 years old, and few games even have copyright protection on them. For the ones that do, the majority of the owners don't even care anymore, and do nothing to try and stop Atari emulation.

No other video game company has an attitude like that toward emulation; Atari is too focused on new product to really worry about the legality of all of it. In fact many Atari veterans applaud it, calling it a method of preservation, which it truly is. Sorry to all those readers who expected an enlighting disscussion on Atari instead of emulation. ;)

The Beatles
A lot of people are suprised when they find out that I'm a Beatles fan. Then again, maybe not suprised enough. Either way, there was never a band like the Beatles before they came into existence, and there will never be another band like them since they have left us.

They changed the face of rock and roll, made it what it is today. Over the years, the band went in virtually all directions; from the standard to the spaced-out, the Beatles did it all.

Personally, I prefer the band's middle period to late works, which went with a more psychedelic style(which they practically invented).

Biographies
I enjoy reading, and next to science fiction and comedy, my favorite genre would have to be autobiography & biography. Don't ask me why: I just really enjoy reading about the life and experiences of other people, provided that they're somewhat interesting.:0

Godzilla
Godzilla
Who can resist the campy charm of a guy walking around in a giant mutant reptile suit while crushing cheaply made buildings and frightening the entire populace of Tokyo, Japan? I sure can't. Also, I am proud to say I own about 14 out of the huge amount (over 22) of Godzilla films that have been made (including the measly American attempt). One of my many goals in life is to collect all of the movies, but that's another story.

Favorite 'Classic' Godzilla Film:

  • Destroy All Monsters
Favorite 'Modern' Godzilla Film:

  • Godzilla vs. King Gidorah (1990's Version)

Monty Python
Monty Python was the most revolutionary comedy series. Every episode, it dared to push the envelope. I'll let this quote sum up the whole of this amazing show:

"The only thing worth getting out of bed for is Monty Python's Flying Circus."- George Harrison (Quoted from http://www.dailyllama.com, which in turn quoted from the Monty Python Encyclopedia, by Robert Ross,1997)

Miles Davis
Miles Davis
Miles Davis (1926s-1991) was the most important bandleader in the history of jazz, and perhaps in the history of modern music as a whole. And next to Armstrong, he was the most influential trumpeter in jazz. His work continues to inspire and incite controversy the world over. The Prisoner
The Prisoner
The Prisoner is the most revolutionary spy TV show of all televison history. Period.

This show, which aired in the late 60's, starred Patrick McGoohan as a British secret agent who resigns for no apparent reason and is captured shortly thereafter.

He awaks on a topsy turvy island known only as "The Village". The series revolves around Number Six's (as McGoohan's character is known as on the island) attempts at escape and his struggle to find out the person behind all of this.

Truly a great series. For more info, check out the official site at www.the-prisoner-6.freeserve.co.uk

Stanley Kubrick
If I went up to someone and told them "Hey, I really like Stanely Kubrick films!", they'd probably run from me, screaming bloody murder. (If they just gave me a blank stare, I would know that they had no idea what I was talking about.)

In all seriousness, Kubrick's reputation as a filmmaker dropped steadily with the production of his more "artistic" films (read: explicit). I personally cannot not make a judgement on those particular films as I have not been allowed to see them. Yep, they can get pretty grusome, from what I've been told.

But I'm writing this to tell you what I like about Stanley Kubrick and his films, not what I dislike. Of the limited number of Kubrick films I've seen (Spartacus, Dr.Strangelove, 2001), my favorite would have to be Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb.

This movie is a truly hilarious satire on the Cold War and nuclear war, and was ranked as the Third Best Comedy of The 20th Century by the American Film Institute (who also happened to name Jack Nicholson as one of the greatest villians in The Shining, another Kubrick film.)
