Misadventures and

Misappropriations in

Humanitarian Aid

With Building Blocks, they never stop.  Nor do will we cease reporting on their antics. These latest “Humanitarian Aid” proclamations were found on their website.  We don’t know if we have any laughter left for it’s all a re-hash of what has gone on before.

Denise’s statement regarding Special Needs children:

When a child is identified as special needs because they cannot receive necessary medical treatment, BBAS intervenes. We have provided medical treatment for children with cleft lips, heart conditions, and other medical issues.

is suspect.  One Bulgarian client who did adopt a child with a cleft issue found out only later another organization repaired their child’s cleft issue.  NOT BUILDING BLOCKS.

Are there other children BBAS made the above claim to besides the one cited?  Most likely, there are others Denise has taken credit for.  With the adoptive parents none the wiser.  How kind of Denise.

Photos accompanying “Improving Conditions” are mostly of Bulgaria, taken several years ago.  Close readers of this website will see the same phrases re-used again and again:

When illnesses occur within an orphanage, we look to improve the conditions by providing addition beds, transport medication, and supplies such as formula, diapers, clothing, blankets, shoes, toys and playground equipment. We look at the orphanages to maintain a safe environment for the children by replacing appliances—washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves when necessary and even providing construction to improve the living area.  We have paid the expense of hiring additional caretakers and doctors to watch over the children, take care of their needs and give them necessary attention.

Once again, we refer to the BBAS Bulgarian orphanages. Was anything ever done for the kids in Buzovgrad?  In Burgas?  In Kurdjali?  New dryers?  New Washers? Stoves and Refrigerators?  If so, why aren’t the photos SHOWING the new white goods?  All you can see in the photos are new cribs, small children, and hard to see playground equipment.  In Bulgaria.  Where Building Blocks no longer has an adoption program.

Denise’s claims of “we have paid the expense of hiring additional caretakers and doctors” – since when?  All the Blevins got for their efforts in getting additional support for Maria was the run around and delays.  Never any paid caregivers for the child.  All the Guatemalan clients ever get for their efforts is a foster care bill after the first few months.

It all adds up to the clients PAYING FOR EVERYTHING.  Denise Hubbard wouldn’t reach into her over-priced McMansion fund to save a soul.  Contrary to what she’s saying publicly.

What is this about “Surrounding Areas”?:

Our humanitarian aid efforts have reached beyond the boundaries of the orphanages and into the communities in which people live. We have purchased Christmas gifts and provided celebrations for children, families and communities that do not have the ability to do it themselves. By sharing gifts no matter how large or small, we break down the walls between cultures and make the world a smaller place.

At least this one has a pictured Guatemalan child.  The only thing correct in this is the “Christmas gifts”.  Then again, that’s only 1% true.  The waiting parents have always been the ones to pay for the children’s Christmas gifts [LINK TO OUR STORY- Anguel].  Maybe the gifts were sent with traveling families, or maybe Denise actually paid to have them shipped down.

Building Blocks and its co-horts in-country don’t break down walls.  They build them for in reality, the only “culture” they care about is the money culture enabling them to live.  They could care less about the sending countries and their “cultures”.

We’re saving the best, most outrageous, not able to be verified statement from the BBAS site for last:

To date Building Blocks Adoption Service, Inc. and our generous adoptive parents have contributed over $500,000 in humanitarian aid to those in need.

Indeed.  Half a million dollars.  Notice, though, that the adoptive parents have  donated this non-tax-refundable money.  What about Denise?  Doesn’t this go contrary to her claims earlier of “we”?  No need to answer that.
