For the past 7 years the Shenendehowa Alumni Golf tournament has been held. This year the tournament continues at the Fairways Golf Course in Mechanicville, NY.
The name of Joseph Fine, Class '83 was added to the tournament scholarship contribution by Joe's classmates and many other classmates from the years preceding and following 1983. Joe was a tri-Captain of the Varsity football team, a member of the Varsity Basketball team and the Varsity Lacrosse team. He graduated from St. Lawrence University where he also played football. Tragically Joe died in an automobile accident due to winter driving conditions. He was on his way home from work after finalizing a significant promotion within his family owned business.
The tournament has served to raise funds in Joe's name and shares the proceeds with the Shenendehowa Dollars for Scholars fund and the Shenedehowa athletic boosters club.
This year the name of MAJ. John Pryor M.D. will be added to the tournament. John was a member of the class of '84. John was killed in Mosul, Iraq on Christmas Day 2008 by a mortar attack while serving his second tour as a Forward Unit Surgical Hospital trauma surgeon as part of the United States Army Reserve Medical Corp. John enlisted in the Army Medical Corp after he had become a renowned trauma surgeon in the Hospital University of Pennsylvania (HUP). John was a member of the Varsity Football and Volleyball teams. He graduated from SUNY Binghamton and went on to attend St. Georges Medical College in Grenada, graduating from SUNY Buffalo Medical College. John's family maintains a memorial web site in his honor.
