About
1181 Old Brownsville Rd W F.M. 665

Drift Land Texas LLc is a local budding business endeavor to bring automotive
enthusiasts together in a safe and legal way. We share our love of locally
accessible auto sports and strive to improve driver skill awareness thru
demonstration. We value our members, local and abroad, staff, and the all of
the volunteers that give their time to put on these events. At times there may
be differences of opinions, and that is expected, but unsportsmanlike behavior
will not be tolerated.
A Drift Land Texas event is a non-speed driving skill contest held on short
courses that emphasizes car handling and agility rather than speed or power.
Events are held on a paved, flat surface, wherein the course typically consists
of short straights with multiple connecting turns or corners. The course layout is
such as to emphasize car handling, driver skill, and maneuverability rather than
performance. Competition licenses are not required as hazards to spectators,
participants, and property are expected not to exceed those encountered in
normal, legal highway driving.
Gymkhana literally means ‘Car Rodeo’. Gymkhana is a best time in class
obstacle course event in an automobile. The driver must maneuver through a
course performing many different driving techniques. What separates
gymkhana from traditional autocross events is that the gymkhana requires
drivers to perform reversals, 180 degree spins, 360 degree spins, parking
boxes, figure 8s and other advanced skills. Drifting is also encouraged where
helpful or necessary. Drifting is an art form enabled by the talent of the drivers
to control a vehicle through corners at speeds and angles that exceed the
vehicle’s ability to adhere to the ground surface. However, the driver’s goal is
to get through the course as timely as possible with the least amount of
mistakes. Acceleration, braking, drifting & grip driving are all necessary. Not
only do they have to hold control over his/her own car, but gymkhana requires
strong mental concentration and memorization
Autocross events emphasize the correct line and proper driving technique
needed to build autosport skills. Slaloms, lane changes and threshold turns
define a course that tests a driver’s skill against the clock. Friendly
atmosphere (instruction available), low-risk and entry level technique makes
this a great place for new autosport drivers to build experience and comfort in
car control. It is our goal to grow club autosports, in a fun, friendly, yet safe
environment
The event organizers have the right to refuse an entry at their discretion. This
permits organizers to protect their and property owners interests, by declining
the entry of someone who is believed to pose a safety hazard or other
significant threat
