We've just brought our new website online this week:
http://mikenpaul.info/
It's not as colorful or "stylish" as this site, but it's
much simpler to update and can do much more than simple static pages like
these. But it's now a private site, and you'll need a userid and
password to get in. We have been giving them out slowly (and
strategically) to make sure we can handle the traffic. So far, so
good!
If you haven't received your userid and password yet,
please be patient, it should be arriving soon via email. Be sure to
check your spam/junk mail folders! If you think we might've
forgotten you or you've changed your email address, please give us a call!
See what happens when we never hear from you?! Ok, we're bad too...
sorry!
There will be no more updates to this site. (Like
anybody cares... I just wanted to write that!)

We're testing our
WebCam. You'll need a userid and password to try it, so please
call us if you're interested. We're not sure how well it's going to
work, since our broadband connection isn't nearly as fast as everyone
else's...

We finally got around to updating our site! We've
re-structured our photo gallery so that it'll
be easier for us to update and for you to navigate! Check out the
pictures of our new sun
porch!

So as I was mowing around the arbor vitae, the thought
occurred to me that we should have a row of cedars as our site's browser
favorites icon since a row of cedar should be a dear's favorite browse
site! (Oh deer, I couldn't resist!)
That yellow spot is suppose to be the sun... I'm an artist
only in my most fragile fantasies, so please, constructive criticism only!
Or just send me a better version to use. You've seen
mine, lemme see yours!
If you're using Internet Explorer on Windows and you can't
see it, you'll have to add our site to your favorites, and possibly close
and re-open Internet Explorer.
If you still can't see it, or you see a version other than
this then forget it...
it's not worth it... you've just seen it! I don't have time to
explain how to fix your machine now... call Bill Gates.
Fellow techies, here are some hints:
-
Thoroughly self-medicate before and after this
procedure.
-
The procedure differs depending on which version of
Windows and which version of IE you're running (browser favorites icons
were implemented in IE4). Too many combinations for me to provide
specific procedures here.
-
The general procedure is to delete any existing
shortcuts to our site, empty your browser cache, add our site to your
favorites, and finally close & re-open IE. If you're still having
trouble, try emptying your cache, then restart your machine (or logoff
and logon) before you add the site to your favorites. Otherwise
you can try rebuilding your
ShellIconCache.
-
TweakUI may help (or hurt!) repair your ShellIconCache
(Repair/Rebuild Icons) depending on which version of Windows you're
running. (Thumbs up for WinXP and IE6.) WARNING:
Repair/Rebuild Icons rearranges your desktop icons, so just try
restarting or logging off and logging back on first.
-
Emptying your browser cache will remove all your other
browser favorites icons. So revisit each desired site and drag the
site's URL from the address bar to your desktop. In a few seconds,
the "e" icon should change to the site's favorite. If not, empty
your browser cache, restart your machine and try again. If not,
empty your browser cache, rebuild your ShellIconCache, and try again.
If not, try restarting your machine (or logoff and logon) after you
rebuild your ShellIconCache. When you've got all the ones you
want, close & re-open IE. You can delete the shortcuts from your
desktop.
If you're using Safari (on a Mac), look in your Library
folder for the Safari folder. In the Safari folder, there's a folder
called Icons. TRASH IT! It's just Safari's icon cache...
Safari will rebuild it automatically. Or call Steve Jobs.
Mozilla
users, just flush your cache... you don't have to call anybody.

Paul takes advantage of the quiet (& Mike's shiny new
computer) to update this website... only because his favorite red-headed
woodpecker arrived today, and he wants to post a picture, but can't stand
looking at our page. Hummingbirds arrived today too! Lots o' 'sparaguses,
lots o' mosquitoes!
As if ladybugs weren't enough, check out the wasp that
comes to visit Paul while he's updating this site in the
General Photo Gallery.
Oh, the joys of living in the country!

Mike accompanies his mom (Jeanette) and aunts (Fran &
Fena) to California for a D'Acquisto sister reunion at his Aunt Leona's
home in Walnut Creek!

Picked the first batch of asparagus today! We
would've had some last week, but the freeze turned them to mush. So
this is technically the second batch.
April 19, 2004
Ron & Lynn discover a Great Horned Owl has nested in a
tree outside their front door! Check out the
Bird Gallery.
