2018 DFL State Convention Platform Balloting Report:  Mining Issues And Related Thought Process

If you still consider yourself a Democrat understand what your party does not support. That would be mining. Here is where they stand.

The majority representing you oppose mining. The statement generated below is written broadly to shut down all mining and is the intent.
______

It's official -- a majority of DFL delegates are opposed to copper sulfide mining.

#68 -- 58.06% Copper-nickel sulfide ore mining has unacceptable environmental and health impacts. To protect the BWCA and Lake Superior, this mining should be banned in Minnesota until similar mines have operated in the United States and been closed 10 years in a water-rich environment without acid mine drainage or pollution, and SNF lands should be removed from sulfide mining leasing for 20 years.
