Indo-American Education Fund is a not-for-profit organization. It promotes projects helpful in furthering literacy in deprived areas in India in such a way as to strengthen the Indo-American friendship. Its mission includes providing opportunities for education for poor and orphan students. It also includes furthering girls education.

The student library was the first project undertaken by IAEF. The construction began in July 2003 and completed in 2009.

The picture to the left shows the beginning of the construction. The construction was slow and labor intensive. The paucity of funds due to IAEF's difficulty to raise donations in time contributed to enormous delays.

The picture to the right shows the completion of the building. Although some finishing work still remains to be done the inside is finished and usable. It accommodates 30 students at a time. Future plans include adding more furniture and science, engineering and medical books.

The following pictures show the reading and computer rooms. IAEF would consider a plan to build an airconditioned room for the computers in future.

India of today is going through an education revolution. It is striving to achieve 100% literacy by year 2020. The literacy rate in remote villages is either totally absent or woefully lacking among the girls. Unless attempts are made to correct this anomaly, the goal of 100% literacy is far from realization.

Illiteracy is the root cause of social turmoil anywhere in the world and it is more so in the present day India. In order to strengthen the America-India friendship and more importantly to help achieve full literacy, IAEF is favorably inclined for establishment of a girls' school as a long-range objective.
