This is a collection of several verses, poems, and special thoughts that have helped me during the difficult weeks following Jamie's murder. I have also included a few personal poems and some favorite photos of Jamie to accompany the text here.
...Love believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (ICor.13:7)
"He has achieved success who has worked well, laughed often, and loved much."

These words spoken by Elbert Hubbard are words of truth. How do we measure success? We will never finish working, or earning money, or completing our plans. No matter how hard we try, there is always more work to do. No matter how much money we have, we will always want more. No matter how many plans we complete, we will always make more - whether we live to be 20, 40, 60, 80, or 100. It's human nature. Elbert reminds us that we should concentrate more on how we live as we strive toward our unreachable goals rather than on how close we are to reaching them. As real success is measured, Jamie was victorious. He worked well, laughed often, and loved much.
And we miss him.

I Remember
I remember your smile,
     your laugh,
           your voice.

I remember your likes
     and dislikes.

I remember your spirit,
     your love,
          and your pain.

I hear your words in my mind,
and your dreams in my heart.

And I remember you.

"Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with brotherly affection; outdo one another in showing honor... Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.... Repay no one evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends upon you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God; for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord'.... Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12: 9-10, 12,17-19,21.
"Be angry, but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil." Eph 4:26
"But according to His promise we wait for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells." 2 Peter 3:13
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world ruler of this present darkness, against spiritual wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand, therefore, having girded your your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God." Eph 6:10

"And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony" Col 3:14

"I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33
The amplified bible amplifies "I have overcome the world" to read "I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you."
