REMEMBERING JAMIE

I created this page to remember and memorialize my cousin Jamie. Jamie was born on February 12, 1973 and died on May 12, 1998. Jamie, his brother Michael, my sister Cissy, and I practically grew up together. We were like brothers and sisters. We spent most of every summer (as well as frequent weekends and holidays) together. Over the past 25 years we played, schemed, and squabbled together. We were family.
Jamie was a kind, loving, and happy man who wasn't afraid to love or be a friend. He cared about other people and loved selflessly. He was a hard-worker and even though he was always ready to have a good time or tell a joke he was serious and commited to his responsibilities.
Jamie's death came all too soon and the pain of his absence is sometimes unbearable. As I grieve for him and our lost future together, I have to remind myself to be thankful for the time that we did have together. I also remind myself that Jamie is a part of all of those who loved him and so he can never be truly gone.

When You and I Are Apart

Sometimes I get lonely
  and thinking about you helps
reminding me that there is
  a person
I cherish so very much
  always close in spirit
  even when you're
  so far away...

But sometimes it hurts
    even more
  to think of you...
  your laugh, your touch
  and to remember just
How much I miss
  your gentle face
  your tender ways
  your presence in my life

Jamie was 25 years old when he was murdered in his own home. His murder was a planned act of hatred and envy. Jamie's Mom, My aunt Karen, has created a beautiful web site in remembrance of Jamie. Here, you can read Jamie's story and see the beautiful tribute that she has created.

Awards

Jamie's mother also gave us this award February 15, 2000.
Jamie loved Taz as a boy and never outgrew it. A close friend made this award for her with that in mind. I think Jamie will get a kick out of this award.

Jamie's mother presented us with this beautiful award on December 7, 1998.
Thank you, Karen.
