Primary Music

Valerie Brown:  Email Me

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  The church has a hymnal and a volume of simplified hymns and an even easier, “Hymns Made Easy”.  The children’s music is in a book called “Children’s Songbook”.  Recently, someone asked me if the church had an easier book of the children’s songs, similar to the “Hymns Made Easy”.  I told her that they didn’t.  I regularly arrange and rearrange other music for my piano students.  I decided to start making easy arrangements of the children’s songs myself for use by my children and grandchildren, friends and students. I realized that it could be useful in Primaries where the pianist has limited piano skills.  When you have people singing with you, it is better to play a simple arrangement well than to play a difficult arrangement haltingly.  The songs have a powerful influence for good, and if they are being played by the children in the home, the influence will be much greater.  This is my first attempt at such a web site, so I’m sure it will change and improve.  But the best way to get started is just to start, so here are my first efforts.  Please email me with suggestions and comments.
