His son, Wayne said that William was named after his father's brother, William.
William worked for Eaton Erb Foundry during most of the war. That is where he had an accident with his eye. A hot piece of metal flew into his eye, and he was in the hospital for three weeks. He lost the vision in his right eye as a result. About 1941. - Wayne
Death Certificate shows that William Dewey Bellamy, male, white, widowed, born Dec. 3, 1898, age 57, died June 17, 1956 in Lapeer County General Hospital after a stay of six hours. His residence at the time was in the city of Mayville, Michigan, on W. Main St. He was born in Nebraska, son of Elmer Bellamy and Amelia Ravens. He was survivied by his wife, Marion Bellamy. His Social Security Number wass 381-0- 3409. Information was supplied by Mrs. Curtis Hammer of Vassar, Mich. He had suffered from "pulmonary insufficiency" for one day. Antecedent causes were old and recent pulmonary TB over the past 15 years. There was an autopsy. Death occured at 12:10 AM. He was buried June 20, a956 in Fremont Cemetery, funeral directors, Blackmore & Tubbs, Mayville, Michigan. 22
