Hannahs * * * from Clyde Scotland

Andrew Hannah left Scotland and emigrated to Canada, and there he and Catherine Morrison started a family of ten children as follows:

John Hannah emigrated to the United States from Canada where he and his wife Elizabeth Sophia Schroder were residing in Port Huron, St Clair County, Michigan during the 1870 US Census. He was employed at the saw mill. Also living with them were two of his brothers William and Andrew. John and Elizabeth later moved to Bay County Michigan and raised nine Children. After the death of John, his wife Elizabeth moved Emmitt Township in St Clair County with two of her children to live with her uncle William Warrenton as recorded in the 1900 US Census. Later she moved to Lansing, Ingham County Michigan as did several of her children.

Alvin Hannah grew up as a boy in St Clair County. His first and only job was working for the Lansing Board of Water & Light in Lansing, Michigan. He worked there for forty years and retired from there. He met Emma Schucaskie of Williamston Michigan whom he married on Feb 10 1909. On October 26 1910 Gladys Janet was born to this union. Alvin and Emma later were divorced. Alvin later married Dorothy Eddy. Alvin died on Feb 1 1957 in Lansing. The underlying factor in his death was cancer. He never had applied for a Social Security Number as his retirement was from the Lansing Board of Water & Light.
