Konnor Smith hangs on for dear life as one of Frank Engelhardt’s winning dogs pulls for the finish line. Konnor and 14 other young people got a first time pull as sled dog racers. Many wanted to go again.
Ruth Zimmerman and her daughter Claire struggle to keep warm and comfortable as they await the start of the dog pull event, conducted at the festival grounds at Hon-Dah Casino Resort. By the time the event was half way through the snow had gotten so bad even the dogs didn’t want to be there.

Trent Penrod puts the finishing touches on his creation in ice of a bellowing bull elk as the snow begins to come down at a record pace. Penrod was the first place winner in the Ice Sculpting event and was awarded $75. Ed Harris was second with a Tropical Fish creation and Frank Abeyta was third with his version of the Eiffel Tower.

Dimitry Muncy doesn’t care about the dog races, he doesn’t care about riding a dog sled. He just knows that this is snow country and snow is for fun and man did he luck out with parents who enjoy the outdoors and knew just where to go to make the most of a snowy day.
Shavaughn Titla seems to look over at Jayden West as he gets comfortable despite the weather and digs into what is left of his chips. He had a front row seat at the dog pull event.

An unsung effort takes place by a nameless dog who had trouble getting started but managed to get into the spirit of the pull as more weight was added to the cart. All the dogs started out just pulling an empty cart.
The Red Hat Devine Divas get ready for judginig the entrants in the chili cook-off. They are from left to right; Shirley Black, Darlene Davis and Clara Young. Not pictures are Dottie Cook and Corky Barron



Richard Fleming took first place in the Chili cook-off with his Texas Style chili. Second Place went to Bob Miller. The prize for first place was a Gift Basket by Jean Fleming.
