Hello, we are John and Beth Werner.
I used to be work as a a software engineer at XEROX, but now I work at Detection Systems. For the last couple of years, I have been working in Object Oriented Design, Analysis, and Architecture, while designing/coding parts of a Real-Time machine control system. I do most of my programming in C and C++. I also am a "experienced user" of GNU-Emacs, the One True Editor (TM).
In
my spare time, I enjoy rallying.
Here is a picture of me driving my Mitsubishi
Galant VR4 in the Atlantic 1000 rally back in '93. My wife is the
wonderful woman navigating for me. The background shows scenic NY
State, and some of the roads that make rallying so much fun around
here. The girl sitting along side the road is actually timing us as
we go through the center of the corner and set up to run over the
photographer. We used to compete in Limited Class, but when the
pickup for my rally odometer broke, we started running in Stock Class
and found out that it is almost more fun.
Music and the arts has always been a part of my life. Both my parents are muscians, and I sing, and play Oboe, English Horn, and Piano. I also have been known to write some music, but I am not sure I would want to brag about it.
My musical background comes from Classical Music. I grew up with classical music, and was trained as a classical musician. [Just how many oboe players do you hear of in pop bands?] Sometime in High School, I discovered Rock & Roll and Pop. By the time I graduated from College, my favorite groups included The Police, Sting, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, and Phil Collins.
Then, something interesting happened, I met Beth, and she led me to The Lord. Since that time, my musical tastes have not changed that much, but the groups I listen to have. I now listen to Glad, Amy Grant, Gary Chapman, Phil Keaggy, Carman, Gary Oliver, and some old White Heart and Petra. I also listen to a lot of Praise and Worship albums, mostly from Hosanna! and Kent Henry.
Shortly before Beth led my to Jesus, I proposed to her, and she agreed, assuming I was willing to go to church with her every weekend. After I got saved, she made me propose again, and on March 27, 1993, I married the most beautiful woman in the world (IMHO). The ceremony took place at the University of Rochester's Interfaith Chapel, and was presided over by two very good friends and pastors, Emelio Sebastian, and Alvin Parris.
If you have haven't guessed yet, my wife is the cute one standing behind me in the picture above.
Beth also sings (better then I do), and plays Flute, guitar and Piano.

Here are some pictures of Sharayah, and a link to even more.

Up until recently, my wife and I were active members of New Life Fellowship, in Rochester, NY. NLF is a non-denominational, multi-racial, charismatic church located in the heart of the city of Rochester. The Sr. Pastor is Reginald A. McGill, and his wife, Dr. Cynthia L. McGill serves as Co-Pastor.
At NLF, Beth and I both served on the Couples Committee and in the Fine Arts Ministry. Both Beth and I believe in strong marriages, and are trained Premarital Counselors.
