Vertical Adapter Upgrade for
RPM
The odyssey RPM as it comes from the
factory. If you own or are considering purchasing an Odyssey RPM you’ll have
already noticed it is lacking a Vertical Adapter (VA). The adapter is a fairly inexpensive part and
can be installed rather easily. The VA
is one of the most cost effective upgrades you can do for your RPM, with it you
can install a quality regulator and do away with the factory bottom line
regulator combination and go with a more user traditional on/off and vertical
regulator.
There are several styles and
manufactures of VA’s, but most people are installing the stainless VA by 32
Degrees (pictured on the left) or the Evil Omen ASA
with Gauge (pictured on the right). See the precautions below before purchasing or
installing any VA or Regulator.
Another Way
There is another way
around the VA for the RPM and that is to use a Direct Stabilizer from Palmer
Pursuit.
The Palmer Regulators
are of the highest quality and the Direct Stabilizer comes in 1/8” NPT, so it
can easily be installed as a VA Regulator combination. See the precautions below before purchasing
or installing any VA or Regulator.
The Installation Precautions
Installation is easy;
simply remove the factory air hose and adapter.
Check the threads on your VA to the threads on the marker as earlier
versions of the RPM have metric threads, where most VA’s have 1/8” NPT. If you
have an Old Style RPM look at this post on PbNation for more information on
thread sizes and what works for metric installation. Help with Metric
Vertical Adapter Installation . You may also want to remove the volumizer
from the marker to verify that the VA threads are not too long so that it doesn’t
come through the body of the marker and make contact with the Cup Seal, Pin
Valve and Spring Assembly. If this
happens the spring will become restricted and in turn not close the Pin Valve/Cup
Seal properly causing a leak.
