Stanley R. Mickelsen Safeguard Complex in North Dakota. This complex was the only operational Anti-Ballistic Missile defense system in the United States during the 1970's. Congress voted to deactivate the system one day after it had gone to full operational status in 1975 ... much information and many great photos.
