COULD IT BE SPRING?

The Johnson family once again visited the much coveted ice breaker-TWINS FEST-which is held every year at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota as a schmooze session for fans to get close to their favorite Twins ball players. This year will probably be the last year it is held at the dome as the ballclub is building a new home with a retractable roof on the outskirts of the metro area. Personally we don't know what the problem is with an indoor ball park especially in light of recent sporting events held outdoors. Game one of the Twins-White Sox spring series was cancelled due to cold since Chicago's ball park is OUTSIDE. Hmmm..I do hope that the retractable roof is a reality, because old global warmng may just shift our ball playing schedules in future years.

We had quite the adventure this year, Kjersti got to meet one of our favorite retired Twins pitchers and now much renowned play by play announcer, Bert Blyleven. We got him to autograph her hat and paid a small fee that goes to Bert's favorite charity. The hat was lost as a result of the stadium's "blow out effect" as we left. I contacted the dome, left my address and as a result Twins's stadium manager Dave Horsman called me, got our address, got an exact duplicate of the rar pin Twins breast cancer awareness hat, sent it down to Spring training camp for Blyleven to autograph and mailed it to us. An unbelievable gesture.

For instance it is no surprise that Canadian Svein Tuft won the US Open Bicycling Competition in Virginia during a "freak snow storm". It was said that the team from Mexico upon hearing the night before the race that cold weather was upon the area ran up and down the halls of the hotel where the riders were staying trying to make deals to get cold weather gear. Doesn't look like old Svein here needed anything special to win except Canadian blood flowing through his chilly veins. (Tuft shown above is the one in front, slightly bearded, a clear cold weather advantage with his Canadian teamate.)

Likewise, Cleveland had to postpone their first games as well. One player here, clearly in denial and electric underwear, forces an unseen team mate to play catch-or else.

IT ALWAYS SNOWS ON MY FLIPPIN BIRTHDAY, YA'LL

YES, Snow is forecast for tonight, 4-9-07, tomorrow night and Wednesday the day before my birthday. Thursday, the much anticipated day I am being taken down to Des Moines for a Peter Frampton concert. Now many of you young whipper snappers may not know who Peter is, but back in the day...oh never mind. You can visit his website and see for yourself.
