Review for Deep In the Heart

Review from Fallen Angels
Rating: 4 Angels

Katey has always done what she wanted ever since she left home to realize her dream as a musician, over the objections of her family. For over a year, Katey has had very erotic dreams about someone that she hasn't met. The only thing she knows is that she has felt a pull towards the town of Alpine after their concert one year ago. The band is almost to Alpine, Texas and Katey can't get past the feelings of trepidation and home-coming. Her restlessness and dissatisfaction with her life is at a head when a man appears is front of their bus, but she isn't the only one who sees him. Then as fast as he is seen, he disappears, leaving Katey and the driver, George, with a huge question mark. To make it even worse, Katey, for some unknown reason, recognizes him even though she doesn't know where she has ever seen him. Who is this mystery man and how can Katey remember him when she has never met him?

Ms. Arch has written an incredible short story that creates a mysterious situation that causes the character Katey to question even her sanity. I can't imagine Katey¹s feeling of relief when she isn't the only one to see the mystery man before the band arrives in Alpine. Katey has many surprises in store for her as she finds out that sometimes dreams mean more than you could ever think. I really liked this story and I would love to read more about the the lives of Katie and her band. Thanks go to Ms. Arch for an interesting story.

Rating: 3 Roses

Texas, lovely Katey Lee has been plagued with strange dreams that have bathed her with restless sexual fire. She desperately longs for the man in her visions, but when she and her band return to Alpine for a gig, the strange occurrence of a disappearing cowboy‹her dream lover‹brings a warning from the locals to get out of town. Daniel Murphy has waited a long time for love, and doesn't want to destroy it. When he met Katey and fell in love with her, he hoped she would return on her own. Now, she's back, driven to find him, but neither can predict the outcome when she discovers his secret.

Deep in the Heart is an enjoyable read. Veronica Arch has a way with metaphorical speech that brings all the right senses to play. The buildup is almost palpable, and Katey is well-characterized. In truth, I would like to see this expanded into a longer tale. It was over all too soon.
