GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
The Vernon County
Historical Society has a number of giving opportunities
related to its capital campaign and sustaining the important work and
mission of the organization, which is to preserve, educate and promote the
cultural and historic heritage of Vernon County.
Giving Opportunities for the VCHS
The VCHS has giving opportunities in the following areas:
1) Museum Accessibility
$502,000+
Freight-quality elevator constructed externally for
accessibility and use of
upper floors. When in place, it will allow for the ability to
deliver exhibits,
and to transport elderly and disabled visitors
2) Museum Facility Space Renovations
$125,000+
The conversion of a former boiler room, now obsolete, into
state-of-the-art
classroom and meeting space. This will require the
disassembling and
removal of the heavy equipment, which will free a substantial
portion of the
building's main floor in which to build into a space suitable
for meetings
and presentations.
3) Endowment
$120,000+
Gifts to the endowment are held in trust and only the
earnings are spent, not the
original gifts. Ten percent will be earmarked for community
outreach and
partnership efforts with local historical groups throughout
the county. In
addition, earnings from endowment provide a source of revenue
for repair
and maintenance of those physical investments implemented in
upgrading the
museum building.
4) Infrastructure Improvements
$103,000+
Major upgrades to the present building's heating and cooling
system, which
will allow year-round comfort and efficient use of all levels
of the facility.
5) Traveling Exhibits
$75,000+
The research, booking, and promotion of national traveling
exhibits to be
displayed in the building's newly renovated, accessible, and
climate-regulated
areas.
6) Technology
$50,000+
Acquisition and training for staff on technologies, including
computers and
digital archiving, that improve the efficiency,
effectiveness, and safeguarding
of information and records.
7) Ongoing Programs and Operations
$25,000+
General operating support to continue the mission of the
organization in the
way of basic services provided, needed to supplement its
annual budget to fill
gaps in revenues from limited county funding and membership
support.
