We are proud to be the home of Truman
Public Schools, an independent school district
whose student population numbers nearly 500 in grades K-12. All students attend
classes right here in the community, with the elementary in the east wings and
the high school in the west wings. Truman Schools provide a safe, personal,
quality education to our children who we believe are an invaluable investment in
our future. High school athletic programs are shared with the Madelia High
School, with the exception of girls' volleyball and both boys' and girls'
basketball which are
independent. Through this cooperative venture we are able to provide the best
program possible to our student athletes. Take a minute and visit
Truman Public Schools website for information or telephone them at 507.776.2775
(Elementary) or 507.776.2111 (High School).
Truman
is also the home of St. Paul's Lutheran parochial school, which serves students
in grades K-8. Children who attend St. Paul's receive a Christian-centered
education and are active participants in the community. Reach them by telephone
at 507.776.6541.
Education doesn't stop after
high school! We also have an active community education program,
which is based out of the high school offices. Community Ed offers
programs ranging from bus trips to how-to classes to the 55-Alive
driving program. Many programs are offered cooperatively with
neighboring communities, which offers a chance to meet some new
faces. For more info contact them at 507.776.2134. Truman residents
also enjoy the convenience of the local library, which is located in
City Hall. The library is connected online. Call the library for more information on how to
connect. To contact the library, telephone 507.776.2717 or click the government link below
and select "city hall" for more information.
