Chartered Organization Representative

bulletIs a member of the Chartered Organization

Troop Committee Chairman

bulletOrganize the committee to see that all functions are delegated, coordinated, and completed.
bulletMaintain a close relationship with the Chartered Organization Representative and the Scoutmaster.
bulletSee that troop leaders and committee members have training opportunities.
bulletInterpret national and local policies to the troop.
bulletWork closely with the Scoutmaster in preparing troop committee meeting agendas.
bulletCall, preside over, and promote attendance at monthly troop committee meetings and any special meetings that may be called.
bulletEnsure troop representation at monthly roundtables.
bulletSecure top-notch, trained individuals for camp leadership.
bulletArrange for charter review and recharter annually.

Scoutmaster

bulletTrain and guide boy leaders.
bulletWork with other responsible adults to bring Scouting to Boys.
bulletUse the methods of Scouting to achieve the aims of Scouting.
bulletMeet regularly with the patrol leaders' council for training and coordination in planning troop activities.
bulletAttend all troop meetings or, when necessary, arrange for a qualified adult substitute.
bulletAttend troop committee meetings.
bulletConduct periodic parents' sessions to share the program and encourage parent participation and cooperation.
bulletTake part in annual membership inventory and uniform inspection, charter review meeting, and charter presentation.
bulletConduct Scoutmaster Conferences for all rank advancements.
bulletProvide a systematic recruiting plan for new members and see that they are promptly registered (This is a direct responsibility of the assistant Scoutmaster for new Scouts.)
bulletDelegate responsibility to other adults and groups (assitants, troop committee) so they have a real part in troop operations.
bulletSupervise troop elections for the Order of the Arrow.
bulletMake it possible for each Scout to experience at least 10 days and nights of camping each year.
bulletParticipate in council and district events.
bulletBuild a strong program by using proven methods presented in the Scouting literature.
bulletConduct all activities under qualified leadership, safe conditions, and the policies of the chartered organization and the Boy Scouts of America.

Assistant Scoutmasters

New Scouts

bulletRecruitment of new members.
bulletAssist in tracking of First Class Trail Requirements.
bulletMaintains a working relationship with local Cub Scout Packs.
bulletAssists Scoutmaster as needed to fullfill the Scoutmaster responsibilities.

Ceremonies & Program

bulletPrimary Assistant Scoutmaster, acting as Scoutmaster in his absence.
bulletPlans and directs Court of Honor ceremonies, as well as special ceremonies.
bulletContinuously works to network and find new program ideas, presenting them to the PLC as input to troop program.

Equipment

bulletWorks as an adult quartermaster, overseeing the inventory and needs requirements of troop gear.
bulletRecommends purchase and/or replacement of equipment as necessary.
bulletOversees the quartermaster's issuing and accepting return of troop equipment to patrols and members.

Venture

bulletGuides the older members of the troop in a challenging adventure program.
bulletInvestigates the available resources for training and planning for high adventure outdoor programs.

Troop Secretary

bulletKeep minutes of meetings and send out committee meeting notices.
bulletHandle publicity.
bulletPrepare family newsletter of troop events and activities.
bulletConduct the troop resource survey.
bulletPlan for family night programs and family activities.
bulletPlan the charter presentation program.

Troop Treasurer

bulletHandle all troop funds. Pay bills on recommendation of the Scoutmaster and authorization of the troop committee.
bulletMaintain checking and savings accounts.
bulletTrain and supervise the troop scribe in record keeping.
bulletSupervise money-earning projects, including obtaining proper authorizations.
bulletSupervise the camp savings program.
bulletReport to the troop committee at each meeting.
bulletLead in the preparation of the annual troop budget.

Member of the Committee: Outdoor Activities

bulletSupervise and help procure camp equipment.
bulletWork with the quartermaster on inventory, storage, and proper maintenance of troop equipment.
bulletHelp in securing permission to use camping sites.
bulletServe as transportation coordinator.
bulletEncourage monthly outdoor activities or special activities.
bulletPromote the National Camping Award.
bulletPromote, through family meetings, attendance at troop campouts, camporees, and summer camp to reach the goal of an outing per month.

Member of the Committee: Advancement

bulletEncourage Scouts to advance in rank.
bulletArrange and conduct monthly troop boards of review.
bulletConduct frequent courts of honor, at least quarterly.
bulletDevelop and maintain a merit badge counselor list.
bulletMake a prompt report on the correct form to the council service center when a troop board of review is held. Secure badges and certificates.
bulletWork with the troop scribe to maintain all Scout advancement records.
bulletWork with the troop librarian to build and maintain a troop library of merit badge pamphlets.

Member of the Committee: Chaplain

bulletProvide spiritual tone for troop meetings and activities.
bulletGive guidance to the chaplain aide.
bulletPromote regular participation of each member in the activities of the religious organization of his choice.
bulletVisit homes of Scouts in time of sickness or need.
bulletGive spiritual counseling service when needed or requested.
bulletEncourage Boy Scouts to earn their appropriate religious emblems.
bulletProvide opportunities for Boy Scouts to grow in their duty to God and their Fellow Scouts.
