9. The spoon slid across the table and landed on the back of the beagle chewing its rawhide stick and on the parakeet.

It takes a bit of imagination to visualize the sequence of events, but once that is accomplished, one can see (the truly miraculous) simultaneous occurrence. Here is a compound prepositional phrase. The spoon lands "on" the back of the beagle and "on" the parakeet. Note: without the inclusion of this second preposition, it sounds as if the voracious beagle is feasting on the parakeet.
