The 5th
Annual Greater Rochester Horseman’s Winter Classic to benefit Heritage Christian
Stables was held Saturday, March 28 at Lehman Farms, located at 161 S.
Wilmarth in Pittsford. This horse show is open to the public and draws in dozens of
area stables, with more than 120 riders participating.
Opening
ceremonies began at 8 a.m., led by emcee Terry Clifford of WBEE-FM and the Star Spangled
Banner was sung by our very own, Kelly Nash!
Heritage
Christian Stables has to date 16 riders participating and riding around noon. We
invite you to come out and support the Stables and our riders (13 community riders and 3
Heritage Christian riders - Lynne Byron, Paula Roberts and Aimee Reinhardt.
Admission into the event is free. Concessions are available for purchase and there
will be a silent auction with some great items for bidding on!
Special thanks
to the Winter Classic committee members for their dedication to making this event a
success. The members include Debi Hill, Samantha Schaubroeck, Lorrie Renker, Drew
Bielemeier, Jan Peckham (Eastman Kodak Co.), Anne Furia (Excellus), and Tami Cusack
(Entercom Radio) and Kara Horvath (Rochester Neurosurgery Partners at Strong Memorial
Hospital).
I would also
like to call special attention to our volunteers at the Stables. Not only do they
dedicate their time and talent as side walkers and horse handlers at weekly lessons, but
many of them have pooled their money together to support this annual fundraising event for
the Stables.
Even though Jeremy is serviced by HCS and resides at a home that provides service and staffing he is not mentioned in the article as a participant. Probably because he doesn't take his lessons at Heritage Christian Stables. Although they do have him pictured on the left from Last Years event.
