elcome to our home page. Garden Valley is located about 50 miles
(80.5 Km) north-northeast of Boise, Idaho (USA). Boise, the capital city of
Idaho, is surrounded by mountains to the north and east, with open areas
(consisting of land for agricultural use and desert) to the south and west.
Boise's location is ideal for winter sports; there's a great ski
area just 16 miles north of Boise (Bogus Basin), as well as accessible cross
country ski areas to the north and east.
Warm weather sports include good areas for both road and mountain
biking, fishing, hiking, camping and white-water rafting.
We are both Letter Carriers for the United States Postal Service,
serving both residential and business areas in Boise. People ask us whether we
tire of the commute from Garden Valley into Boise. The answer is "no".
The drive home every day is practically therapeutic -- when we're
half way there we verge from dry grassland areas into forest and mountains; the
Payette River joins us and flows alongside State Highway 55, and the bustle of
Boise is left behind us for one more day.
The "small town feel" is quite evident here; people seem to know
each other, they smile and say "hello" -- there is a trusting atmosphere that
hasn't been tarnished yet by the growth being experienced elsewhere in the
state. There are a few stores, restaurants, bed and breakfasts and a pretty
well-stocked hardware store in town, and a few miles north of Crouch is Terrace
Lakes, where you won't find any lakes at all -- but there's a great golf
course, restaurant and hot-spring-fed pool.
Whatever your outdoor interests may be... the chances are good
that you'll be able to experience them here in the beautiful countryside that
is Garden Valley.
