The Rite of
Christian Initiation for Adults, is the process used by the Catholic
Church to help those who are interested in becoming Catholic to
explore the Catholic faith. People who have been baptized in
another faith are called candidates, while those who are not
baptized are catechumens. If the candidate has participated in
his/her baptismal faith and has already developed a relationship
with Christ that person is considered to be “churched.” The
baptized, churched candidate does not leave Mass after the readings,
and does not have as intensive period of preparation as a catechumen
might have. In the 4-Parishes, the formal RCIA meetings usually
begin in December or January. If you or someone you know has been
considering exploring what the teachings of the Catholic Church are,
please call the RCIA director, Pam Konz at 483-2480. There is no
obligation to join the church at this point in the process, and
participants are encouraged to ask any and all questions that they
have about the Church. You, as members of the parishes in our
cluster, are the example that others look to in deciding whether
they want to become a part of this church. When you know your faith
and you live it you are wonderful witnesses to the beautiful deposit
of faith that we have.
