OVERTURNED CAMERO

This Camero lost control and flipped end over end and landed on its top just off of I-40. This car was a T-top and the front windshield and rear window support collapsed down to the level of the hood. The rear of the car was resting on several downed small trees sitting about 2 feet into the air over a ditch. A box crib was built up to the trunk to stop it from rocking forward.(in left of picture) A upright farm jack was used on the other side. There weren't any stable points for the jack to support the car so we attached the jack to one of the trees that the car was laying on. This gave the car support all the way to the front of the vehicle.

The patient, who remained conscious the entire rescue was in a seated position on the roof of the car with his back to the drivers side door. His head was bent forward by the bottom of the seat and his legs were between the steering wheel and front windshield. We removed both doors to let rescuers in on one side and gain access to the patient on the other. We pushed the drivers seat back as far as it would go and used the rams(green reflection by A post) to lift the floorboard up for more room. The patient was then laid straight back onto a backboard and flown by Vanderbilt Life flight to Nashville.

Accident scene.
