Post 1885 schemes

The black schemes-
During the year of 1885, the Denver, South Park & Pacific underwent
major management re-organisation resulting from a part ownership by the
Union Pacific RR.  At this time, the South Park roster was renumbered, and
locos repainted.  The new colour schemes were to follow standard coporate
practice of the UP, and as a result the beautiful Mason schemes of the
1870s were to vanish completely.  From 1885, the locos were repainted black
with a Russia Iron boiler jacket.  lettering was aluminium in colour.  Many
Bogies retained their brass boiler bands, others either tarnished, or were
replaced by bands of Russia iron.  We present the two versions of the post
1885 South Park colour schemes, black with brass bands, and black with dark
bands.
