The Leviathan Scheme

This is perhaps
the most accurate color rendering so far.
It is based on Mason color research
by Jim Wilke.
And "general knowledge" of Mason
schemes, and schemes of the era.
The actual shade, or hue, of color
worn by Leviathan is still unknown, and may never be known.
But because Green is known to be
a favorite of Mason's, its very likely Leviathan was Green.
Although it also possible she was
Blue or Lake (a crimson, "red wine" type of Red)
It is obvious from the original
B&W photos of Leviathan that her boiler and cylinders were Russian
Iron, and her domes and various trim pieces were brass. These can be made
out by the shades on the b&w photos. The rest was likely one color,
and I have assumed Green to be the most likely.
So therefore this color study represents
the most likely colors worn by any one Mason Bogie so far, based on historical
information and what we do know about Mason's general color practices.
All the parts are correctly
colored here, the domes, cylinders, cab, tender; everything is colored
as it would have really been colored. The only major question un-answered
here is the exact shade of color used, was it really green? or perhaps
blue? that is still unknown.
