Sergeant Edward Richard Sharman, receiving a medical
discharge from the 14th King's Regiment of Light Dragoons,
after serving 17 years in the British Army, moved his family
to Scotland in 1863. Sergeant Sharman received the position of
"Drill Sergeant" of the "East Lothian Yeomanry" based in Haddington,
and served in that position till his death on May 2, 1873.
