Editors note: In the summer of 2006, Pennsylvania budgeted $38 million for straightening this southbound section of Route 15. The northbound lanes were added a few years ago, and they do not have the character of the southbound side. If you haven't driven down Steam Valley, do so before the original road is gone.

Warning signs at the top of the hill:

The downslope begins gently:

The turns get sharper as you get farther down:

The road has 'S' curves:

The Penn's Cave sign at this 'S' curve has been there as long as I can remember:


And it keeps going down...

...until the signs indicate that you are near the bottom:
