6. Jabez2 Crippen (Thomas1); Thomas was of Falmouth. MA25 was born in 1680 at Falmouth, Barnstable Co., MA.26 He married Thankful Fuller, daughter of Rev. John Fuller and Mehitabel Rowley, on 9 Jul 1707 at Colchester, New London Co., CT.27
He removed to Sharon, Litchfield Co., CT, circa 1740.28 He removed to Amenia, Dutchess Co., NY, circa 1752 Jabez Crippen, was from Colchester, and was an original propriete of the township. He drew the twentyfirst home lot, and his house stood on the ground now [1898] occupied by the Grosvenor house, so called, nearly opposite Govenor Smith's. He was the first selectman ever chosen in the town. He had sons Jabez, John, Samuel, Thomas, and Joseph. His son Thomas lived where Milo R. Calkin now lives. About the year 1752, the father removed with several of his sons, into Amenia, NY, near wher the late Jonathan Pennoyer lived; and that neighborhood was fomerly known as Crippentown. Mr. Crippen died at Manchester, Vermont about 1785.29 He Four of his sons settled in Amenia in a place called "Crippentown". The location of this place is also attributed to Sharon Station, CT in 1752 at Amenia, Dutchess Co., NY.30

He Virkus states that Jabez was from Clochester, CT, moved to Amenia, NY and later to Manchester, VT. The History of the Town of Sharon repeats this with the additional notation that Jabez died about 1785.90

It is the marriage of Nathen H. Grippin and Sarah A. Spaulding on May 18, 1834. Nathan (1811-1896) and Sarah (1815-1893) were not only united in marriage by our Rev. Hiram Sheppard but remain united today in the very front row center of our old cemetary".169 He married Phoebe Edson, daughter of Cyrus Edson and Catherine Agdine, on 17 Oct 1893 at Union, Broome Co., NY.170 He died on 19 Sep 1896 at Vestal, Broome Co., NY, at age 85; caused by carcinoma of the stomach according to T.
