Range Finder Division - Crossbow Class

OHLBC Rangefinder Division
Addendum to the
ASA Rules of Competition

Except as noted below, all ASA Rules of Competition apply to the Rangefinder Division

Competition Classes

1.       The Rangefinder Division is separated into two (2) classes: Fixed Pins and Open

2.       The ASA Rules of Competition for these classes apply respectively

3.       There is no gender distinction within the classes

Equipment

1.       Any type of bow and shooting style allowed by OHLBC or ASA rules is allowed in the Rangefinder Division.

2.       Sight type determines the shooting class assignment regardless of the bow type or arrow speed.

3.       Any type of hand-held, commercially available rangefinder may be used.

4.       If an equipment problem develops while on the course, the problem shall be corrected under the equipment breakdown rules of the ASA Rules of Competition.  Competitors should carry enough batteries to finish the course.  Battery failure is not grounds for calling a breakdown and no targets may be “made up” in the event of battery failure.  If a competitor leaves the range for a breakdown of the rangefinder the battery must be marked by a member of the group and the same battery must be used in that rangefinder or the replacement unit when the competitor returns to the range.

General Rules

1.       No yardages may be discussed while shooting.  It is the competitor’s responsibility to range the target in the shooting time allowed and make the shot.

2.       It is the shooter’s responsibility to carefully check his or her equipment before starting to shoot the course. Any potential problems should be corrected before shooting!

3.       Slower groups will not hold up faster groups.  Let faster group “shoot through” and if you catch up to a slower group, either go around them or ask to “shoot through”.

4.       There is no mandatory separation of bow types in shooting groups.  Crossbows, compound bows and traditional bows may be intermingled in the shooting groups.

5.       Rangefinder competitors may not shoot in groups with yardage judging competitors.  This is grounds for disqualification of everyone in the group.  There is no appeal.  The entire group must be made up of Rangefinder competitors.

6.       Rangefinder competitors from different classes may compete together.

7.       Since distances are known after ranging a target, no one may discuss yardage, after returning to the practice/registration area or any other area where yardage judging competitors may be present.

Target Distances and Scoring

1.       The Open Rangefinder class will shoot from the stake farthest from the target (Open A, Pro, Semi-Pro, and Unlimited Stake) which has a maximum distance of 50 yards.  The Fixed Pins Rangefinder Class will compete from the Red Stake, with the Hunter and Super Senior Classes, which has a maximum distance of 40 yards.
 2.       ASA Scoring Rules apply.
