Keynote quote

Please note
There are no authorized mirrors for my Scorpio webpages.
It saddens me to have to report that my Scorpio webpages have been copied without permission and posted on the website of the infringer. My pages are the result of thousands of hours of my own creative work. Many of you have seen my pages grow from a modest start to a major source of information for Scorpio enthusiasts. To find that my "baby" has been kidnapped breaks my heart.

For the record --

With the exception of specifically attributed material, I have written all the text on these Scorpio pages. Similarly, the design, layout and content of the tabular navigation scheme are original with me, as are the design and layout -- and in some cases the content -- of the tables of data.

Many of the images on my Scorpio pages are adapted from illustrations originally published by Ford Motor Company in literature promoting the sales of the Merkur and Ford Scorpio ranges of automobiles. In transcribing those images from printed page to computer screen, I have applied a variety of enhancement techniques to ensure the greatest possible clarity. I own the copyright on the effected modifications.

The entire contents except as noted above are copyright 1998, Paul F. Doering.

Another note
Currently I am coping with a serious health problem. Although I enjoy corresponding with other Scorpio enthusiasts, it has become impossible for me to reply to e-mail. If you have questions about the Scorpio, please join the International Merkur Owners Network. (See below.) It's free, and its members are very good at answering your questions. Thank you for your understanding.

Many visitors here have asked where to buy Scorpio literature: owner manuals, service manuals, public relations material and so forth. There are several reputable dealers in obsolete automotive literature. You'll find some names & addresses in any issue of Hemmings Motor News, usually available at any significant newsstand in the first week of each month.

You'll want two manuals for certain: the shop manual and the electrical & vacuum troubleshooting manual. Ford is useless on this subject, but there are alternatives for the official FLM Scorpio publications.

The manuals were originally sold by Helm Inc.

Bob has obtained permission to republish the fully updated service manual for the Scorpio and for the XR4Ti. This is a breakthrough for Merkur owners, for which we owe Bob a huge round of applause. I urge you to contact him if you don't have a copy of the manual for your car, as there's no substitute for having one.

Every Scorpio owner should subscribe to the International Merkur Owners Network and its superb mailing list. Click on its name here for details.I guess that special cars and special people are just naturally attracted to one another. Thanks to Roland and all the others who've been here in the moments of need.

And thank you for being visitor number Counter since I added this counter to my Scorpio pages in mid-1997. (A six-digit counter on a Scorpio page is a sign of optimism....)
