District Deputy’s Report

Dear Brother Knights and Sister Columbiettes,

As we enter the summer months, activities seem to slow down with the Knights and Columbiettes. Time is better used for family time and vacations. However, plans are already in place for an exciting start to the Columbian Year. September 10 has been set aside as New York State Charity Day. Every council across the state is being asked to perform some Charitable Fundraising activity. All moneys raised on this day will be donated to the New York Special Olympics. In addition, St. Mary‘s Council will be credited with C&B books for all the money raised. This will provide income for the council as well. Why not give our Grand Knight some ideas for this day‘s activities. I‘m sure the Columbiettes have some great ideas to share.

On September 17, all third-degree Knights are invited to "Breakfast with the State Deputy". This is more than just a social event. The state officers are looking for suggestions on how to improve membership in New York State. Every council must be represented. The Hudson Valley, and St. Mary‘s specifically, has a lot of great ideas. We need to share them.

Have a relaxing and safe summer,

Wally Wych DD

July, 2005

Of all the many traditions in our Brotherhood, one that we must never lose is the devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary during May.

4th of July at the Renegades

We still have some tickets available for the July 4 game and fireworks show at the renegades. The $21 fee includes a two hour all you can eat buffet of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, soda and beer as well as the game itself and the post game fireworks show. See Lynn Packer for tickets. (297-1901)

Family Pool Party

Saturday, August 20th is a date to keep open! Doug & Marikay McHoul have graciously extended their hospitality again in inviting the Knights, Columbiettes and their families to a pool party and Bar-B-Q at their home. Contact Mike Perry (223-5099) if you will attend. We need an approximate head count, so we can insure that there is enough food available for all to enjoy.

Wiffle Ball tournament - Our 5th annual charity Wiffle Ball Tournament will be Saturday, August 27th. This year’s tournament will benefit the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society. Stay tuned for details! Contact Jerry Albanese (227-3658) if you are interested in entering a team.

East Fishkill Community Day

We will be participating in the annual East Fishkill Community Day on Saturday September 17, 2005. Please sign up to assist us with this fund raiser that helps to support our charitable activities.

Cigar Dinner

We will be holding a Cigar Dinner in either October or November. Since this is a smoking event, we cannot hire outside kitchen help. We need volunteers for set up and clean up. Assistance will be needed behind the bar, serving and in the kitchen. We will be taking sign-ups at our September meetings.
